Quinault Indian Nation
The Quinault Indian Reservation is a land of lorests, rivers, lakes and 23 miles of Pacific coastline.
Its boundaries enclose over 208,150 acres (325-sq. mi.) on the Olympic Peninsula. The headquarters for the Quinault Nation, a federation of seven tribes, is located in Taholah, 40 miles north of Ocean Shores at the northern end of Highway 109. The center for tribal administration and cultural activities is located there.
Taholah is home to Quinault Pride Seafood, which processes and sells the rare Quinault Blueback Salmon delicacy, as well as a large variety of canned seafoods, vacuum-packed smoked salmon, and gourmet packaged dinners. The Quinault Nation owns and manages the Quinault Beach Resort, a 50,000 square foot casino and entertainment center on Indian Trust Land, just north of Ocean Shores. The $40 million Resort includes a casino, a 125 room oceanfront conference hotel, restaurant, retail, childcare center, outdoor recreational amenities, and conference facilities. Quinault Land and Timber Enterprise (QLTE) also owns the Ocean Shores Marina. The QLTE master plan calls for retail, fishing and charter services, restaurants, lodging and conference facilities.
