Gary Boynton is a true-crime writer, researcher, and teacher, living in the Pacific Northwest. An Abnormal Psychology major in college, he also completed numerous classes in police science, criminology, forensics, and criminal investigation. He has worked as a probation and parole officer, private investigator, and paralegal.

For six years, Gary was a regular contributor to the six magazines published by the now-defunct Detective Files Group; several of his articles were cover stories. He also assisted New York Times best-selling author Gregg Olsen in researching If Loving You Is Wrong: The Shocking True Story of Mary Kay Letourneau.

Gary has taught a class called "Making Crime Pay: How to Research, Write and Sell True Crime Stories" at Discover U in Seattle and at two national conferences of the Police Writers Association. He is currently researching his first true crime book.
